Botanical Bundle Dyeing with Sarah- 7/17

Learn to create beautiful patterns on cloth using flowers, leaves, roots, and kitchen scraps in this bundle dyeing workshop. 

Plant material will be placed directly onto fabric and rolled, then tightly secured with string. Steaming will transfer the colors to reveal one-of-a-kind natural prints. Fabric preparation, mordanting and care of your final piece will be discussed. Each person will leave with several samples and one larger final piece.

We will tour the Past Lives dye garden to discuss plant selection and care of common dye plants and gather seasonal botanicals which may include--indigo , marigolds, cosmos, and dahlias. 

A variety of fresh and dried botanicals will be provided along with fabric and all other materials. No previous experience required, just a playful, open mind. 

A $10 materials fee is included in class price.
