In this 2-hour demonstration, Arnon will demonstrate and explain the Uri Hofi approach to forging ergonomics for the Blacksmith. He and his apprentice Buddy will also demonstrate how to efficiently move metal with a striker by forging a chef's knife from a bar of 1095 high carbon steel. This knife will be finished in time for Christmas, and everyone who registers for the workshop will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win this knife as our holiday gift to you.
This workshop is FREE to all Past Lives Members and NWBA members. A $10 donation is recommended, with all proceeds going towards Buddy's Recovery Fund**.
Uri Hofi was a well-known and highly respected Blacksmith on many continents who developed the ergonomic forging method, allowing for fast, accurate, and efficient forging to reduce both the effort and potential damage to the body. Hofi has taught worldwide, including in Germany, Japan, and the USA, and has left behind a vast body of work, both architectural and sculptural, and an extensive collection of innovative and original smithing tools. Arnon has been a student of Hofi for several decades and would like to share some of the approaches he has learned and incorporated into his work.
** Buddy has been studying with Arnon for some time and has become a serious blacksmith in the last few years. About a year ago, he lost his right leg in an accident, putting his career in doubt. Through sheer determination and help from the blacksmithing community, Buddy is recovering well and is back in Arnon's shop, learning, helping out, striking during demonstrations and classes, and developing his own products. His injury has left him with ongoing medical expenses, and he needs help with various disability needs.
Please use the discount code PLMetal10 to receive $10 off as a Past Lives Member or NWBA Member. The $10 donation will go directly to Buddy's medical expenses. Thank you in advance for your support.
