Hide the poll on Home once you have voted

The Poll on Home now has a Hide button that folds it to one line, and Show opens it again. Once you have voted it starts folded, and your choice is remembered for each poll.
The Poll now sits near the bottom of Home, just above Get The App.
The Past Polls tile is gone from the quick links; See Past Polls under the poll takes you there.
Arrow links across the portal, and the Show Me Around button, now use Title Case.

Spotlight messages now scroll quietly across the top of Home

Spotlight messages now glide across one slim line at the top of Home, like a news ticker, instead of a big yellow banner. Hover over it to hold it still and click a link. The X hides it until a new message arrives.
The top left of the portal now always shows the version, when it was last updated and Details, without messages.
The Feature Request Meeting no longer shows in the Spotlight or in Details.
On Admin Tools, Instructor Inquiries is now under Tools and Manage Mailing Lists is under Manage.

Write your own answer in a poll

Whoever posts a poll can turn on Let members write their own answer.
On those polls you can write an answer instead of picking one. It counts as your one vote.
Post anonymously is on by default. Turn it off to show your name beside your answer.
Everyone who sees the results sees the written answers under the counts, each with a name or Anonymous.

Guilds can ask their members a poll

A guild page has a Polls tab once the guild has a poll. Any member can vote there once, and the results show right away.
Guild leads, guild staff, guild officers and admins post and close a guild's polls from that tab. One poll is open per guild at a time.
Past Polls now shows guild polls too, each labelled with its guild.
A new poll is written the way members will see it: type the question and each answer in place, pick how long it runs, then Post Poll. Same on Admin Tools, Polls.

Polls are back on Home

While a poll is open, Home shows a Poll card. Tap an answer to vote and the results show right away.
You vote once per poll, and votes are anonymous: nobody sees who picked what.
Past Polls, linked from Home at all times, lists every closed poll with its results and your own answer.
Admins post and close polls from Admin Tools, Polls.

Guild Tools for guild leads, staff and officers

If you help run a guild, the sidebar now says Guild Tools. It opens your guild's settings, orientations, reservations and events, plus Email Members, Manage Mailing Lists and your guild's reports.
If you help run more than one guild, pick the guild at the top of the page.
Admins, instructors and other staff still see Admin Tools, and members with no staff role see no tools entry.

Email Members, Mailing Lists and Spotlight messages

The tool for emailing a class, a guild or everyone is now called Email Members. It still posts to Discord and sends an app notification.
Email Members has a Mailing Lists tab that opens your guild's mailing list, and a Manage Mailing Lists card goes straight to it.
The short rotating notices on Home and in the Spotlight are now called Spotlight messages.

More staff requests come once a day

Requests for spaces, discount codes, events, guild announcements, meeting items, wiki pages and teaching, and class change requests, now reach approvers in the 8 AM email instead of one email each.
A request someone already handled is left out of that email, and its notice in the app is marked read.
Orientation requests still arrive right away, because many are for the next day or two.

Admins can see what emails are about to go out

Site Activity has a new Email Queue tab: what is waiting for the 8 AM review email, the reminders going out in the next 24 hours, and the morning emails sent this week.
Each waiting item says whether it will be sent, left out because someone already handled it, or skipped because that person turned the email off.
Site Settings, Emails now says which emails send right away and which wait for the 8 AM email.

Class review requests come once a day

Guild leads and Class Reviewers now get one email at 8 AM listing every class still waiting on them, instead of an email for each class.
A class someone already approved is left out, and its notice in the app is marked read.

Announcements in the Spotlight

The Spotlight in the top left of every portal page now shows the current announcements, taking turns, where the weekly poll used to be.
When it is minimized, its first line is the announcement, and the yellow dot lights up when a new one is posted.
Pause any of the moving announcements or the Upcoming carousel and it stays paused on every page until you press play or log out.

Close the banner and it stays closed until there is something new.

The top of the Upcoming card on Home now rotates through a mix of classes you can still book and events still to come, with their pictures.
It moves every few seconds; hover to hold it, or use the arrows, dots and pause button.

Every public event page opens with a large photo, the date and the place, and a Get directions link.

Tabs on your phone show every section at a glance

On a phone, rows of tabs that used to slide sideways are now one button showing where you are and how many sections there are, like 2 of 5. Tap it to see them all.
On a class you teach, the Overview lists every other section with a short note on what it holds, so the Eventbrite tab is easy to find. Other sections show a link back to the class Overview.
Nothing changes on a computer.

Show me around moves under the Home welcome

On Home, the Show me around button now sits under the welcome message instead of beside the door code, and it goes away once you have taken or closed the tour. You can always take the tour again from the Guided Tours card on the Help page.

Class and announcement steps fit your phone

On a phone, the steps along the top of the class builder and the announcement composer no longer slide off the side. They are one button showing which step you are on, like 3 of 6. Tap it to see every step.
Each step in that list keeps its tick when it is done and a red dot when it needs a fix.
Nothing else changes on a computer.
On a class page, Edit now takes the instructor to the class Overview, the same page Cancel in the class editor goes back to. Every section of the class is there, and its own Edit opens the editor.

When a new class goes live, its post in #classes now shows the description, when it meets, how long it runs, where, who teaches it, the price and how many spots it has.

Push notifications on iPhone

Push notifications now work in the iPhone app as well as on Android. Update the app, then turn push on under Settings, Notifications.
If push cannot be turned on for your phone, Push On This Device now says so, with the reason, instead of saying it is on.

Face ID only asks when you sign in

In the iPhone app, Face ID no longer pops up as you move around the hub while you are already signed in.
Turning on Face ID sign in now checks your face once and tells you it is on.
If you cancel Face ID on the sign in page, it lets you try again or use an emailed code, instead of saying something went wrong.

Leaders can move an orientation without a refund

When a booked orientation time does not work, a guild leader or equipment manager can now move it to another time. Your payment stays with the booking, so there is nothing to refund and nothing to pay again.
The leader either moves it right away, and you get an email with the new time and an updated calendar invite, or asks you first, and you tap Accept new time or Keep my current time from the email or your orientation card.
If your orientation was moved for you and the new time does not work, cancelling it never carries a late cancellation fee, and you still get a full refund.

Saving a new event no longer times out

Publishing an event for the whole makerspace now saves in a few seconds. Before, a big send could make the save look like it failed, and saving again posted the event twice.
Members still hear about each new event once, by bell, email and Discord, right after it is saved.

Anyone can RSVP to an event, no account needed

A public event page takes an RSVP from anyone with a name and an email, for up to six people. Members still RSVP with one tap and can say how many they are bringing.
Signing up again with the same email updates the RSVP instead of adding a second one.
Manage Events has a Guest list tab: search, check guests in at the door, add someone by hand, copy the emails of guests who want updates, or download the list.

Whoever edits a Calendar event can crop its photo, add up to ten gallery photos and a video link, and format the description the way class pages are written.

Manage Events joins Admin Tools

Admins and Calendar Administrators see every Calendar event in one place: what is waiting for a review, what is scheduled, what is live and what has passed.
Each event has its own page with Approve, Request changes, Decline, Duplicate, Unpublish and Delete.
An unpublished event comes off the Calendar, Google Calendar and Discord, and goes back on without a second announcement when it is published again.

Members can be given permission to add Calendar events

Admins can turn on Can create events for a member on their Permissions tab. That member then sees + Add event on the Calendar.
An event added this way waits for a Calendar Administrator to look it over before it is announced.

The wiki home has a Pages Waiting For You list: pages with their sections ready and nothing written yet. Tap one to start writing.
Recently Updated now lists only pages someone has actually written in.

Wiki pages get panels, checklists and settings boxes

The wiki editor has a Panel menu: Info, Tip, Warning and Danger boxes, so a safety rule stands out instead of hiding in a paragraph.
New buttons for a checklist, a settings box for machine settings or recipes, and a divider line.
New pages start with a Danger, Tip or checklist line where it helps, with a hint inside. Anything you leave empty stays off the page.
The filter buttons on the wiki home no longer sit on top of a line.

Each date of a single class can be booked on its own

When a single class was given several dates, one sign up covered every date, and the later dates could not be booked once the first one passed. Each date now goes live as its own run of the class, so you pick the date that works for you from the other dates on the class page.
The Make a Sushi Set and Make a Cup classes with Anjali are split this way, one date each.

Moving a discount code shows which class run is which

When an admin re-assigns a discount code, each class in the list shows its date and whether it is a draft or waiting for review, so two runs of the same class are easy to tell apart.
The instructor list shows only current instructors. Former members and deleted accounts no longer appear.

Classes waiting too long for review now raise an alarm

When a submitted class has waited 3 days or more for a review decision, it shows in red on the admin class queue and on Home for the people who can review it, with how long it has waited and how soon it starts.
The member portal alerts channel on Discord gets a post about it, and another every 3 days while it keeps waiting.

Guild leads choose who reviews their classes

On a guild's Staff tab, the guild lead can switch a staff member on as a Class Reviewer. Class review requests and reminders now go only to the guild lead and those reviewers, not to every staff member.
Nobody is asked to review a class they teach, unless they are the guild lead.
Instructors can now press Remind lead while their class waits for review, Duplicate their own class at any time, and Delete a draft right from the class editor.

Notification settings save themselves

Each switch on the Notifications page saves the moment you flip it. A spinner shows while it saves and a green Saved! confirms it, so there is no Save button to miss.
Instructors: the email for a new signup in your class is always sent, and its switch now shows a padlock to say so.
Instructors get every instructor email turned on, and so does anyone who becomes an instructor from now on.

A proper application to host a class

It asks about your class idea, how long you have practiced the craft, where you have taught, what you would need at Past Lives, a comfortable class size and when you could teach, so Lee knows you before your instructor training.

Hours of credit on equipment you pay for by the hour

A manager can give you hours of credit on a piece of equipment, for time you paid for and did not use or for an approved shop project. You get an email when they do.
The next time you book that equipment, you see your credit and it comes off what you pay. If your credit covers the whole time, you reserve without paying.
If you cancel, or a manager declines your request, the credit you used comes back to you. Anything you paid is refunded as before.
Managers give and take back credit on the equipment's Manage page, under Reservations, and can credit unused time from a reservation's menu on the Bookings tab.

Finish early on hourly equipment and keep the time you did not use

On equipment you pay for by the hour, once your reservation has started you can end it whenever you are done, where the managers have turned this on.
The time you did not use comes back as credit on that equipment for your next booking, rounded up to the half hour in your favor.
There is no fee and no refund. The freed time opens up for other members.

When you write up a class, the Basics step now has an Instructors list. Add anyone with teaching access, and they can edit the class, submit it for review and see who registered, just as you can.
A class you co-teach shows up in your Manage My Classes and on your home page's Teaching card.

Orienters can mark a day off

On a guild's Orientations page, or an equipment Manage page, each orienter now has a Days Off button beside Edit Hours. Pick a date and none of your orientation times that day can be booked, in every guild and on every piece of equipment, however far ahead the day is.
Saving a day off cancels every time you already had that day. Anyone booked gets the usual cancellation email, and the button tells you how many before you save.
Delete a day off and your regular hours that day come back with the next overnight update. Your upcoming days off are listed under your hours.

Manage Bookings: one place for everyone who runs orientations or equipment

If you lead or staff a guild, or manage a piece of equipment, the sidebar now has a Manage Bookings entry, right after Reservations.
It opens on what needs your reply: orientation requests waiting on you and reservations awaiting your approval, with Confirm, Decline and Approve right there.
Below that, a card for each guild and piece of equipment you run, with its state, its orientations and links to its Orientations page, Manage panel and Bookings.
Your own published hours sit at the bottom, with Edit Hours for each guild or tool.

Guild leads can ask for notice before an orientation

Guild leads and staff can set a Booking notice on their guild's Orientations page: how many hours ahead members must book an orientation. 0 keeps things as they are.
Times inside that notice are no longer offered, and each orientation says how far ahead to book it.

Discount codes can be re-assigned to one class, an instructor's classes or everywhere

On the Discount Codes page, each code now has an Actions menu: approve, edit, re-assign or delete it from one place.
Re-assign points an existing code at one class, at every class one instructor teaches (including classes added later), or back at every class, without making a new code. Its approval, dates and uses stay as they were.
A new Scope column shows where each code works, and a class's Discount Codes tab, the class editor's Discounts step and an instructor's My Discount Codes page show a code aimed at the instructor with their name.

Repeating events keep their time in Discord

When the clocks change, a repeating event in Discord's Events tab stays at the time you set instead of shifting an hour.
A repeating event edited after its first date reaches Discord again. Two guild meetings had been failing to update there since their first dates.

Equipment can charge for reservations

Managers set what a reservation costs on the Hours and Limits tab: free, donation based, or an hourly rate, and pick which manager gets paid for it.
You see the price before you book. A priced reservation is paid by card when you reserve, and the time is held while you pay.
If a reservation is declined or cancelled, a paid reservation is refunded in full on its own.

Equipment can require a manager's approval for reservations

Managers turn on Needs approval on the Hours and Limits tab. From then on each reservation waits for a manager to approve or decline it, and the time is held while they decide.
You get an email when you send a request, when it is approved (with the calendar invite) and when it is declined (with the reason).
Managers see what is waiting at the top of the Reservations tab and in the Bookings tab, with Approve and Decline right there.

Each live class has an Eventbrite tab

Manage This Class has a new Eventbrite tab on live classes, for the instructor and admins. It shows where the class stands: not on Eventbrite, queued, listed, failed or taken down.
Validate Listing for Eventbrite checks the class against Eventbrite's rules. Once it passes, Submit Listing to Eventbrite lists it straight away and records that you agree to the rules.
A listed class has a Published on Eventbrite switch. Turning it off asks first, then unpublishes the event, or closes sales when tickets were already sold there.
Who pays Eventbrite's fee and the Eventbrite category moved to this tab. The live class edit page links to it.
Lines like "Payment, no checks please, at the door" are now caught as payment outside the ticket.

Equipment can ask for one orientation, or a set of them

Equipment managers now list ways to qualify on the Details tab. Each way is one or more orientations, and a member can reserve once they finish every orientation in any one way.
So the CNC Machine can take either its full 6 hour orientation or both of its 3 hour sessions.
The equipment page and the wiki say which orientations are left, and mark the ones you have done.

Equipment notices reach only the people who run that equipment

When someone asks for an orientation on a piece of equipment, or reserves it, the email and the bell go to that equipment's managers and its guild's lead and staff. Nobody else gets the email or the bell.
Equipment Administrators are told only about equipment with no managers and no guild leaders, so a request never goes unanswered.

Classes are checked against Eventbrite's rules before they sell there

The last page of the class editor has a Submit to Eventbrite box, with Eventbrite's rules beside it. Ticking it is your agreement to those rules, and the class lists on Eventbrite when it goes live.
Once ticked, the class is checked as you type: a green Ready for Eventbrite badge, or a list of what to fix, quoting the words. Who pays Eventbrite's fee and the category show there too.
Saving is stopped while the class asks for payment outside the ticket, lists a fee not included in the price, names a discount code, or has a link, email, phone number or handle in the title.
Links, emails, phone numbers, social handles and cancellation or refund questions are listed as left out of Eventbrite, and are removed from the listing on the way out.
If a class fails the check when it goes live, nothing is sent to Eventbrite and the instructor gets an email listing what to fix, with a link to Request a Change.

Usage agreements for equipment

Some equipment now asks you to agree to its usage agreement once, after your orientation and before your first reservation. Read it in the pop up, check the box, click I agree, and you can book right away.
You are only asked again if the agreement changes.
For equipment managers: add a link to the agreement, its text, or both on the Details tab of the Manage page. Any change asks everyone to agree again, and the page tells you how many members that is.

Ask for your own orientation time on equipment

When a tool like the CNC Machine has no open orientation times, members can now propose a time and leave a note, the same way guild orientations already work. A manager of that tool confirms it.
Equipment managers turn this on or off with the new Let members propose their own orientation time switch on the Orientation tab. It starts on.
Priced orientations still take payment first, and donation orientations still ask for an amount.

What used to be called Orientation Types are now just Orientations, everywhere.

Clearer equipment settings for managers

Opening hours show as one line each (days and times) with an Edit button, instead of every form open at once.
Equipment now has an Active switch in its own Availability card: on means members can reserve it. The closed message only shows when it is off.

The Reservations tab's cards are spaced properly, and the late cancellation fees card explains what it lists.

If your Discord is linked to the portal, a new Post on Discord as me switch in the announcement composer shows your Discord name and picture on the post instead of Past Lives Makerspace.
The Discord preview shows how it will look. Discord still marks the post as coming from an app.

Add many people to an announcement at once

When writing a guild or class announcement, Add people opens a searchable list where you can tick as many members as you like and add them in one click.
You can also paste several email addresses at once.
Everyone you add to a guild announcement is saved to that guild's mailing list, so they are already ticked next time, for every lead. Remove people in Guild Settings.

The Spotlight: this week's poll and the next Feature Request Meeting, top left

The top left of the Member Portal now shows this week's poll and the next Feature Request Meeting. Tap an answer to vote, right there.
Tap Details for more: the poll's results, the meeting with Join online and Add to calendar, and buttons to suggest a feature or report a bug.
Tap the minus to shrink it to two short lines. It stays that way until you open it again, and a yellow dot shows when there is a new poll, a new meeting date or new words in the Spotlight.
With no poll open, the Spotlight shows the latest update instead. Tap it to read what changed.
What changed, at the bottom of Details, lists every update five at a time. On a phone, the Spotlight sits at the top of Home.

Vote in polls and see every past poll

When a poll is open, tap an answer to vote. The results show right away with your answer marked.
You get one vote per poll, and it cannot be changed. Votes are anonymous: nobody can see who picked what.
The Past polls page at /polls/ lists every poll, newest first, with how many people voted and how each answer did.

Admins can post polls and set up the Spotlight

Admin Tools has a new Spotlight page. Pick the Feature Request Meeting, write the two short lines members see, and watch a preview update as you type.
Post a poll with 2 to 6 answers that closes on its own after the days you choose. Only one poll is open at a time, and you can close it early.
Every past poll is kept in a table with its total votes and top answer. Results show counts only, never who voted for what.

Notifications open the page they are about

Tapping a notification on your phone, or clicking one on the Notifications page, now takes you to the page it is about. Some opened the home page, a page that does not exist, or nothing at all.
Notices about a class registration open that registration's page, and a request to review a class opens that class's review page.

Equipment managers can block time

On an item's Manage page, the Reservations tab has a Block Time card: pick a date, a start, an end and a short reason.
Members see the time on the schedule as Held, with the reason, and can't book over it.
A block doesn't count toward your own reservation limit, never charges a late fee, and emails nobody.
Remove a block from the same card when plans change; the time opens up again right away.

Instructor Inquiries in Admin Tools

The I'm Interested form on Host a Class now asks for your teaching experience, and optionally your website and socials.
Admins have a new Instructor Inquiries page in Admin Tools listing everyone who asked to teach, with date and status filters and a CSV export.
A Board Report on the same page charts inquiries per month and how many went on to be approved and run a first class, each downloadable as an image.

Orientations hold the equipment they use

Once a member books a time, each item on that list shows as reserved for the orientation and nobody can reserve it over that time.

An equipment orientation always holds its own equipment.

A tool or room can now list several orientations. Finish any one of them and you can reserve it.

Instagram handles and websites on profiles are links

On the Member Directory and on instructor pages, an Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Facebook or Threads handle now opens that profile when you tap it.
Website addresses written without www, like yourname.com, open too, and a phone number in your links dials on a tap.

Badges show on the Member Directory

Colored badges, such as Elevator Certified, now show on a person's Member Directory card next to their member type, as well as on the Leadership Directory.
Admins can give or take a badge from a member's Edit page with one switch per badge. New badges are still made on the Leadership Directory editor.

Booking a class can make a guest account, not a membership

Someone who books a class and asks for an account now gets a guest account. It opens their bookings, receipts and account pages on the class site, and nothing on the members site or in the app.
A guest who reaches the members site sees a message written for guests. Admins can edit it in Site Settings, next to the former member message.
Manage Members shows guests as Guest, with their own filter, and they are left out of member counts and member emails. Making a guest a member works like it does for anyone else: set their status and role.
Booking with an email that already belongs to a member never changes that member's status.

Reservations have a Bookings tab

The Reservations page has a new Bookings tab next to List and Calendar. Members see all their own reservations there, past, upcoming and cancelled, and can cancel one from its menu.
Equipment managers see the reservations on the equipment they run, and admins see them all. Each row has a menu to view or manage the equipment, email the member, waive a late fee, or cancel with a reason the member sees.

Guild staff can record an orientation

Guild leads, guild staff and equipment managers can mark a member as oriented from the Orientations page. On the Bookings tab, + Record Orientation saves an orientation that happened outside the app, so the member can reserve the equipment right away without booking one.
Recorded orientations are listed on the same tab, and whoever runs that orientation can remove a record from its menu.

Printable QR sheets for equipment and orientations

Equipment managers and the people who run an orientation can print a one page QR sheet to post in the shop, like class flyers. Members scan it to reserve the tool, or to book the orientation they need first.
Find Print QR Sheet on the equipment page, the equipment manage page, your guild's Orientations settings and the Orientations Bookings tab. You can also download just the QR code as SVG or PNG.

Orientations have a Bookings tab

The Orientations page has a new Bookings tab next to List and Calendar. Members see their own orientations there, past and upcoming.
Guild leads and staff see the orientations for their own guilds and equipment, and admins see them all. Each row has a menu to mark someone oriented, confirm or decline a request, or cancel. People who handle refunds can refund from it too.
The old orientations dashboard now opens this tab, and a lead sees only the orientations they run, plus their own.

Manager cancels are labelled

Equipment managers never pay a late fee when they cancel their own reservation on equipment they manage, whichever Cancel button they use.

In the class composer, each gallery photo has a Make cover button. The cover is the photo your class page gallery opens on.
Set focus lets you tap the part of a photo that matters, so the gallery frame and its small previews keep that part in view instead of cropping from the middle.

Orientations can be donation based

Guild leads and staff, and equipment managers, can turn on Donation based for an orientation. They can set a minimum and a suggested amount instead of a fixed price.
When you book one, you enter what you'd like to pay. $0 sends a free request. Any other amount is at least $1 and is paid by card, with an automatic full refund if the orientation is declined or cancelled.
Orientation cards show the suggested donation, or Pay what you can when there is none.

Announcement recipients show names again

The Add a member list and a guild announcement's recipient checklist show each person's name and email once, sorted by name, instead of their email twice.
People you added to an announcement draft are still there when you reopen it.
A sent announcement names its sender and the people added by their member name. The From line of its email names the sender the same way.

Guild pages show when an area is in use

Classes, events, orientations and equipment can now have a Location, the area of the building they use. It is optional.
A guild page lists its areas with a light: green when free, amber when something starts within the hour, and red when a class, orientation, event or reservation is using it now.
Class and event pages show their Location when one is set.
Admins manage the list of Locations from Admin Tools, including areas that share space, like the Front Studio and the Events Stage.

A Webmaster hears when an automation fails

For admins: a new Webmaster duty on a member's Permissions tab. When an automation such as the reminder emails fails, the Webmaster gets an alert in the notification bell, by push and by email, saying what broke and when. Admins can open the automation's run history from the alert.
At most one alert a day per automation, so a job that keeps failing does not flood anyone.

One Orientations page for every guild and tool

A new Orientations entry in the sidebar lists every orientation a guild or a tool offers, each as a card with its next times and a Book button. Filter by guilds or equipment, or search by name.
Each card shows the guild's banner, or a photo of its own that guild leads and equipment managers can add, replace or delete on their orientation settings.
When no times are posted yet, the card says so and offers Schedule an Orientation if the guild takes custom requests. Orientations you have finished fold away under the list.

Equipment is now Reservations, and spaces like the loading dock can be booked

The sidebar entry and page formerly called Equipment are now Reservations: book a room, a space, or a tool you are trained on. Spaces are a new kind alongside tools and rooms.
A tool you are not trained on now shows locked, with a Book the orientation link. If you were trained before the Member Portal went live, the card's help bubble says how to get access.
Admins can grant a Space Manager role on Manage Members, which lets a member add rooms and spaces and manage the ones they add.

See a site-wide announcement's progress, and everyone it reached

For admins: while a site-wide announcement sends, the Announcements page shows how far it has got, like "Sent to 50 of 298 so far", and updates on its own.
For anyone who sends announcements: the Sent tab has an Emails column. Click the number, or "See who it reached" on the announcement's own page, for everyone it reached, with whether each person got the email, the notification bell and a push, and the reason for any email that failed. This works for announcements sent since the Announcements page arrived.
Push now counts only members who have the app or browser notifications set up.

Meetings land on the calendar on their own

Give a council or guild meeting a date and a time, and it goes onto the calendar and into Discord Events by itself.
No announcement goes out then. A draft waits in Announcements, so an admin can send it or not.

Orientation info can carry links, and every orientation books here

A guild's Orientation info now takes links, lists and headings, written in the same editor as class descriptions and emails. Members see all of it on the guild page's Orientations tab, not a shortened teaser.
Every orientation is booked in the Member Portal. The option to send members to an outside form is gone from guild settings and from orientation types.

Guild Settings save themselves as you edit

Every section of a guild's settings saves as you change it, so a forgotten Save can no longer lose an edit. A pill at the top shows Saving, Saved or Couldn't save.
A value that cannot be saved shows its problem right under the field and keeps what you typed.
Removing a row of hours asks once first, since it takes that row's open times off the calendar. Booked times stay, as before.
If a change could not be saved, leaving the page warns you first.

Add people to a site-wide announcement

Admins sending a site-wide announcement can now add people beyond the active membership. Under Recipients, "Add a member" adds a former, invited or suspended member, and "Add email addresses" adds anyone else.
Someone with no account gets the email only, and only when Email is on. Uncheck a row to take that person off before you send.
The sent announcement's record lists who was added.

Cancel several upcoming orientation times at once

On the guild settings Orientations tab, each row in Upcoming Times has a checkbox. Tick a few, or select every time on the page or across all pages, and cancel them with one confirm.
The confirm says how many upcoming times are going and how many booked members will be emailed. Each time is cancelled the same way a single Cancel does it today.

The class card photo sliders say which way the photo can move

When a photo already fills the card from side to side, the left and right slider is switched off with a note saying only up and down moves it, instead of doing nothing.
A slider that moves the photo in only one of the two card sizes says which one.
Picking a different photo rechecks both sliders right away.

Site-wide announcements can reach members who haven't logged in yet

A site-wide announcement goes to active members who have logged in to the app, and the Announcement Composer now says how many that is and how many more have never logged in.
Turn on "Also include members who haven't logged in yet" to reach every active member. Members who have never logged in get it by email when Email is on, and in their notification bell once they log in.

Repeating events open on the date you picked

Opening a repeating event from the calendar shows the date you clicked, not the first date in the series. From anywhere else, it shows the next date.
Add to calendar starts from that date, in Google Calendar and in Apple Calendar or Outlook.
A repeating evening event added to Apple Calendar or Outlook now lands on the right day and time every time, not a day early.
After 5 PM, the calendar's Events tab lists tonight's date of a repeating event instead of skipping to next time.

Announcements has its own page, with drafts and sent announcements

Admin Tools → Announcements now opens a page with two tabs, Drafts and Sent. Admins see every announcement. Guild leads and staff see the ones for their guilds, and instructors the ones for their classes.
The Announcement Composer has a Save draft button again. A saved draft waits on the Drafts tab until someone sends it.
The Sent tab shows who sent each announcement and when, and for announcements sent from now on, how many people it reached. View shows the email, push notification and Discord post it sent.
Once a month's voting results are in, that month's results draft appears on the Drafts tab on its own, ready for an admin to check and send.

Voting results go out as an announcement you can edit

Admins: once a month's votes are counted, the Voting page shows a Draft announcement button. It opens the Announcement Composer with the results already written in, ready to edit.
The results email shows a bar chart of every guild's share of the funding pool, and the Discord post shows the same bars as /voting.
The results email is now the same for everyone, so it no longer repeats your own vote.
Preview & send now shows how the Discord post will look, next to the email and push previews.
Makerspace-wide announcements from the composer now send in the background and reach everyone within 15 minutes.

A phone number in the Member Directory is a link: tap it to call.

The class page shows the photo the way you cropped it

The banner on a class page now shows everything inside the crop box from the Photos step. Before, the top and bottom of the crop were cut off on a laptop and the sides on a phone.
A soft, blurred copy of the same photo fills any space around it, such as on a wide screen.
The Adjust sliders are gone from a class photo, because the crop box already decides what shows.

Running a class again starts on its dates

Run it again now opens the new run on the Dates & Price step with a note saying what to do next: add the new group's dates, then submit for review. Everything else comes across from the original.
The Dates & Price step and the published class page now say that a second group gets its own run, with its own seats, rather than more dates on the same class.

Registration closes before a class starts

Each class now closes registration 48 hours before its first session, so the instructor knows who is coming in time to prepare. The class page says when registration closes, and once it has closed it says so and why.
On the Dates & Price step of the class composer you can change the number of hours or turn the cutoff off for a class that should take sign-ups right up to the start.
Classes that run as a flexible, book with the instructor arrangement are not affected.

Share a class from its page

Every class page has a Share button next to All classes. On a phone it opens your share sheet, so you can send the class by text, email, Instagram or any app you have.
Where the share sheet is not available, including the Android app until its next update, the button offers Copy link, Text and Email.

The event editor says what will be sent, and when

Each reminder in the event editor shows when it will go out, or says it's too late to send, and updates as you change the start time.
The Save button says what saving does: "Save and announce" or "Save and schedule" before an event is announced, and "Save" once it's live.
Reminders and the "happening now" ping on a repeating event now go out before every date, not only the first one.

People on the Leadership Directory can now show colored badges on their cards, such as Elevator Certified, so you can see at a glance who can help with what.
Admins make each badge with its own words and color, and give it to people from the Leadership Directory editor.

The Leadership Directory is split into tabs

The Leadership Directory now shows its people in tabs, starting with Leadership and Guild Leads, so you can jump straight to the group you want.

Post open orientation hours that members book any time inside

Guild leads and staff: each row of your orientation hours now chooses how members book it. Fixed start times work as before. Any time in the window opens the whole span, and a member picks an orientation and any 15 minute start that fits, one person at a time.
The Upcoming Times card on your guild Orientations tab lists fixed times and open windows together, shows who booked into a window, and adds a one off of either kind.
The Availability Blocks card on the Orientations dashboard is gone. Open windows replace it.

Manage Classes finds every date of a class

Manage Classes no longer hides a class's upcoming dates behind an old one. Search, Upcoming and Drafts now find every date.
The "N dates" tag on a class lists those dates one per row, so you can open or take down the exact one you mean.
Renaming one date of a class while moving it to another guild moves only that date. Its other dates stay where they were instead of landing on the wrong card in the catalog.
Class approval emails to admins now ask for "Admin sign-off" instead of "executive validation".

Flexible classes take a date window instead of session times

Instructors who teach students one at a time can mark a class Flexible on step 3 of the composer and, if they like, give its first and last day. The class page tells students they book their day with the instructor, shows the window, and the class leaves the catalog the day after its last day.
A Flexible class has no seat cap: registering never puts anyone on a waitlist, and the page shows no seat count.

The composer's card previews zoom to the crop box as you drag it

On the Photos step, the two card previews beside the crop box and the phone preview on the Review step now show just the part of the photo inside the box, the way the saved card will. Before, they showed the whole photo and only followed the box's centre until you saved.

The class photo crop box now crops

Drag the box on the composer's Photos step and the class page banner, the catalog card and the flyer show the part of the photo inside it. Before, the box only chose which part of the whole photo the banner centred on.
Moving the banner with the Adjust tool on the class page still works on a cropped class: the point you pick is carried back to the full photo.

The Title column on Manage Classes cut every class name off after about 22 characters, so one instructor's classes all read the same. It now shows the whole title, wrapping onto a second line when it needs to.

Writing or editing a class, the description box now has bold, italics, underline, headings, lists and links, and the class page shows them.

Past Lives 2.0

When you say you are interested in hosting a workshop, we now ask how you want to be reached: email, text message or a phone call. The admins see that with your note, so they can get back to you the way you asked.
A multi session series on the class catalog lists every date in the set, so you know which days you are signing up for before you click.
In the class composer, a date you have just added counts when you submit for review. You no longer have to save first.
The composer's card and phone previews follow the crop you choose the moment you choose it, and the page preview shows the saved crop.

Notification settings: your role notices in one place, and switches for a whole channel

If you hold a role or an admin permission, the notices it brings you now sit together in Admin / Permissions at the top of Settings → Notifications, grouped by the permission.
New On and Off buttons turn every Email, Push or Discord switch at once, for the whole page, one section or one group. Nothing changes until you press Save.
The Always emailed block is gone. Notices you can't turn off are back in their own topics, with a padlock on their Email switch.
Class review and orientation request emails now follow your Email switch, like every other notice. Turning it off really stops them.
The review row is now called Class review request, to match the email. Admins also get rows for the new class registration email and for payment alerts that need a refund.

An accepted agreement now records which version you accepted

When you accept the Member Agreement, PLM now records the version you accepted and a fingerprint of the document as it stood at that moment — so the record says what you agreed to, not just that you agreed.
The browser and device you accepted from are recorded alongside the time and network address, as corroboration.
Accepting a revised agreement no longer overwrites the old record. Each acceptance is kept, so an earlier one still shows what was agreed at the time.
Nothing changes for members until an admin sets a Member Agreement version in Site Settings. Until then, anyone who has accepted once is never asked again, exactly as before.

An event can carry a photo

Adding something to the calendar now starts with who it is for: members, or the public. Guild staff and admins get that choice; anyone else posts to the public calendar, the way it already worked.

A guild can now put on something open to the public, so the guild picker has a clear No guild option when an event does not belong to one.

Members: when a guild or a tool charges a late cancellation fee and you cancel inside the notice window, the fee is due right away. You go straight to a secure Stripe payment page, your cancellation email carries a link to pay later, and you get a receipt once it is paid.
Until an unpaid late fee is paid, you cannot book a new orientation or reserve equipment. The guild page and the equipment page show the amount and a Pay button.

Orientation hours that repeat every week now start on the day you picked

Set a start date on weekly orientation hours and nothing is bookable before it. Until now the date was saved and ignored, and the hours ran from the same week.
The start date does not have to fall on the day the hours run. The first session is the first matching day on or after it.
Leave the start date blank and weekly hours run from now, exactly as before.
Each rule in the Orientations list names its start date while the date is still ahead, such as Every Sunday from Oct 4.
Hours already published with a start date lose their open sessions before that date the next time slots are generated. Anyone already booked keeps their place.

When you publish your orientation hours, Repeats now offers every week, every other week, every month, every 2 months, every 3 months, every 6 months, or every year, and you pick the day the hours start.
A monthly or yearly rule keeps the same weekday of the month as its start day, so the 2nd Tuesday stays the 2nd Tuesday.
The Orientation Schedule names each rule in plain words, such as Every other Tuesday or Every month on the 2nd Tuesday.
Hours you already published keep running every week. If you change a rule to repeat less often, the open slots that no longer fit are removed and booked ones stay.

A class roster shows the people who are actually coming

The Registrations tab used to list everyone who ever signed up, including people who cancelled, so instructors read a dropped student as a current one. It now lists the people holding a seat, with a Show cancelled button when there is anyone to show.
Waitlisted people appear on the Waitlist tab only. They used to be on both tabs at once.
Class lists and the sign-up emails used to count cancelled sign-ups toward a class being full, so a class could read 15 of 12 while it still had room. Every one of those numbers now counts the same people, and they agree with the number of spots the sign-up page offers.

A class stops being held full by signups nobody finished

If someone starts signing up and never pays, their seat used to be held forever and the class could look full when it was not. The seat now comes back about two hours later, and they are free to sign up again.
Checkout pages for a class now expire after an hour instead of a day.
If your bank uses a payment method that settles slowly, your signup now confirms when the money arrives. Before, it could sit unconfirmed and you would never get the confirmation email.
Studio staff can now confirm a signup that got stuck part way through paying, and then record the payment or send a payment link as usual.
If your seat is confirmed with money still owed, the confirmation email now tells you what is left to pay and where to pay it.

Signing up for a class twice by accident

Pressing the sign up button more than once used to create a second signup, and every extra one quietly took a seat. A class could show as full while it still had room. A second press now picks up the checkout you already started instead of starting another one.
If the price moved between your two attempts, because you added a discount code or a sale started, you are now charged the new price. Before, you would have been sent back to the first page and charged the old one.
If you left checkout open overnight and came back, you used to be stuck: you could not pay and could not sign up again. You can now pay.
If a spot opened on a waitlist and you clicked the link in that email, you were being told you were already on the waitlist instead of being let in. You now get the spot.
Joining a waitlist twice is fixed the same way.

One screen for managing a class

Instructors and admins now manage a class on the same screen. What you can do there depends on who you are, not on which link you followed.
Guild leads and guild staff can open a class requested under their guild, edit it and write its welcome email, without needing teaching access first.
Classes waiting on your guild's review now sit at the top of the guild's own settings page instead of inside the teaching area.
Old links and bookmarks to the admin class pages still work. They take you to the new screen.
Exporting the whole registrations list to a spreadsheet is now admin only.

A class photo that came over from the old class site is now positioned from the class page: click Preview and use Adjust under the photo. The crop box in the class editor never moved these photos, so it no longer shows for them, and saving your class no longer undoes a spot you picked with Adjust.

Guilds can send orientation signups to their own form

A guild lead can point orientation signups at an outside form, such as a Google Form. Members then see that link where the booking times used to be, and it opens in a new tab. Each orientation type can have its own link too.

If the page reloads or you close the tab while writing a class, your next visit offers back what you had typed, with the time it was kept and a button to throw it away. It is kept in your own browser, so photos, dates and anything you tick are not part of it. Save your draft for those.

The class composer checks each step as you go

Next now stops on the step you are on when a required field is empty, moves you to that field, and says what is missing right beside it. The message clears as soon as you fill it in. Back and the step tabs are never blocked.

The class composer keeps your work and says what is still missing

When a class is not ready to submit, you now land on the step that needs attention with a Still Missing list, and each line jumps to the field. Before, you could end up on step one with only a short notice that faded.
Submit for review on Manage My Classes is available once the class is ready and says what is missing when it is not. Pressing it twice no longer drops you on the list.
A failed save keeps the price you typed and any date you had started entering. If a class is cancelled while you are editing it, what you typed stays on screen.

The class photo cropper works again

On step 2 of the class composer, the crop frame for your main photo now appears at full size the first time you open the step and every time you come back to it. Before, it stayed a small box, or never appeared at all while creating a new class.
Pick a new photo and the frame appears as soon as the photo has loaded, whether the class is new or already saved.
A crop is saved only when you drag the frame. A photo you never cropped stays uncropped.

A notification settings page you can actually read

Your notification settings used to run to 51 rows. The page now opens with 30, plus a block of ten you can open when you want them.
Notices that belong together are now one switch. Every update about an event you proposed is a single row, and so are the updates about a class you submitted, an announcement you proposed, a space request, a request to host a workshop, and being moved off a waitlist. Turning that row off turns off the whole family. If you had set one of a family on and another off, the row now shows off, and saving the page will switch the rest of that family off too.
The notices you always get by email now sit together in one block called Always emailed. Open it and you can still change push and Discord for the ones that offer them. The email itself stays on, which was already true. It just no longer costs ten rows to say so.
A new class no longer rings your bell, and if you had asked for an email about new classes, that stops too. New classes are still announced in the Discord classes channel.
When someone finishes their orientation, the welcome no longer lands in the other guild members' bells or on their phones. It still posts in Discord, the way it always has.

You'll hear about it if your class moves

If we move you from one class to another, you now get an email about it. It names the class you were in and the one you are in now, with the new dates, the time, and where to go. Your booking carries over, so there is nothing for you to do and no need to sign up again.
If you were waiting for a seat rather than holding one, the email says so, and you keep your place in line for the new class.
Admins: requests from members who want to host a workshop now go to the CMS Administrators instead of to every admin. If you want to keep getting them, ask for the CMS Administrator duty on your member page.

A tidier teaching portal, and panels that shrink when they are empty

The teaching portal is now called Manage My Classes, and the tab listing your classes is now My Classes. The + New Class button on the first page now looks like the one on the class list, instead of blending into the page.
Emailing your students now opens the same announcement tool the rest of the app uses. Tick the students you want on the Registrations tab, click Email selected students, and the tool opens with exactly those people already chosen. Your message reaches them in the app, on their phone, and by email, rather than by email alone.
Your instructor bio, your photo, and the links shown on your public instructor page can now be edited on the Instructor Profile tab. You are no longer sent off to your profile settings to change them. That photo is the same one members see in the member directory.
The review lists that used to stack up as three tall panels are now one. A list with nothing in it takes up no room at all, and when nothing is waiting anywhere the whole panel shrinks to a single line. Instructors and admins both get this.
On the Home page, Your Upcoming is now Upcoming at Past Lives. It lists what is happening at the space, which was never only the things you signed up for.
Admins: the class admin is now called Manage All Classes. The summary numbers moved above this week's classes, and the activity log moved out of the overview into a tab of its own.

The lobby screens fill themselves in

The wall screens now build their own slides from what is already in the app. Classes and workshops happening in the next seven days, a list of what is still to come this month, the guild funding vote and when it closes, the member directory, an invitation to host a workshop, and an invitation to book a tour.
Every guild gets its own slide naming its next meeting or class. A guild with nothing coming up shows its About text instead. Note that a meeting shown this way is readable by anyone standing in the building, not only that guild's members.
Every one of those slides carries a QR code, so anyone walking past can scan it and open the page on their phone.
A screen still needs nothing from you. Point a monitor at its address once; it picks up new slides on its own and restarts itself overnight.
Admins: Slideshow is now its own tile in Admin Tools instead of a tab inside Site Settings, and each automatic slide has its own on and off switch.

The whole card in the preview, where the money goes, and imported photos that count

The card preview in the class editor is now the whole catalog card: photo, title, dates, price and spots, at the two widths members see. What you sign off on is what they get.
Classes brought over from the old class site had a photo on their page, but the editor and the submit checklist said they had none. They count now, and you can position them like any other photo.
Host a Workshop has a new Where the Money Goes section showing how a paid class splits between you, Past Lives and your guild. The common questions open and close, and the hosting guide has a clear open button.
Admins: the words on that page moved to their own Teaching Marketing Page under Class Settings, with the same formatting toolbar as announcements instead of Markdown.
Status tooltips on the admin classes list no longer get cut off by the table.

A wiki written by members

There is now a Wiki in the sidebar, and you can write in it. It is for how the space, the machines and the materials actually work here, and right now it is empty, so the first page is yours.

Every edit is saved as its own version, so nothing you write gets overwritten.

Host a workshop, a five step class editor, and card photos that fit

Host a Workshop is now in the sidebar for every member. If you do not teach yet, it opens a page about running a workshop or a class for the shop, with a real workshop page you can open and look at. Tap the interested button, tell us what you have in mind, and the page tells you when an admin has answered. Admins can edit every word of that page from Class Settings.
Becoming an instructor now goes through an admin instead of a self serve unlock. Anyone interested shows up on the classes overview for admins to say yes or not right now, and you get an email either way.
Creating or editing a class is five short steps instead of one long page: the basics, photos, dates and seats, what students need to know, and a final review. Save a draft on any step and come back later.
Your class photo is cropped twice, once for the wide banner on the class page and once for the short strip on the catalog card, and you now position both. The editor shows the card exactly as it looks on a laptop and on a phone, plus a preview of the full class page, before you submit.
Sales moved out of the class form. Put a class on sale from the manage class page, switch it on or off any time, and a Sale pill shows while one is live.
Reviewers now send a response instead of a decision. Asking for changes is normal, and a class can go round as many times as it needs.
Admins can take a live class back to draft in one step. It leaves the catalog right away, nobody is emailed, and everyone already registered keeps their spot.

Voting results that reach everyone

When we email out the guild funding results, a few people could be quietly skipped, and there was no way to reach only them afterwards without emailing everyone a second time. Anyone missed in September has since been sent their results, and the site now goes back for the people it missed instead of counting them as done.
Sending results no longer holds up the page while it works. Admins get a confirmation straight away and the emails go out in the background, which is what used to fail partway through on a big send.

Sign in with your face or fingerprint

Sign in to the app once with an emailed code, and it can offer to use Face ID or your fingerprint after that. No more waiting for a code every time.
Your phone keeps the key, not us, and it stays locked behind your face or fingerprint. It expires after ninety days if you stop using it.
Settings now lists the devices you are signed in on, so you can sign out a phone you no longer have. It arrives with the next app update.

Some orientations now have a price. You pay when you book, right on the booking page, and your spot is held while you check out. If the orienter cannot make it work or you cancel, your money comes back automatically. Free orientations work exactly like before.

RSVP to events, plus friendlier /create and /poll forms

Creating events and polls in Discord is simpler now. Both /create and /poll open a short fill in form, so you just type the details and submit. Event announcements got a glow up too: each one shows the time, how long it runs, where it is, and who is coming, with an RSVP button that updates the list live. Click RSVP again to take it back. Organizers and guild leads get a Manage button for quick edits and cancellations, whoever starts a poll can end it early with the little gear, and the event page on the hub shows who is coming as well.

Instructors can message their class

Instructors can now send an announcement to everyone signed up for their class. You get it in your notification bell, as a push on your phone, and by email.
The people who send announcements (guild leads, guild staff, instructors, and admins) now have a single Announcements tab in the sidebar to write and send them from.
Announcement push notifications now show a clean, short line on your phone instead of a cut-off email. Whoever sends the announcement can also write a custom short version just for the phone.

Cleaner, more accurate calendar announcements

The Discord calendar channel now only announces events happening within the next three months. It had been surfacing recurring meetings that were still months away, so those far-off notices are gone. An event still gets its announcement once it comes within three months, so nothing is lost.
When an event is rescheduled to a new day or time, it no longer leaves a leftover copy on the old date. The calendar, the announcements, and the Discord event list now show it once, on the right day.

Suggest agenda items right from the meetings list

Every upcoming meeting on the Meetings page now lets that guild's members add a suggested topic in a quick popup. You no longer have to open the draft agenda to put something forward.

When a lead locks a meeting, any suggestions that were not discussed are no longer quietly dropped. The lead chooses to carry each one over to next month or set it aside, and you are told which happened to yours.

Updated class cancellation policy

We've simplified our class cancellation policy. Cancel 48+ hours ahead and there's no fee: just email classes@pastlives.space so we can offer your seat to someone on the waitlist. For cancellations inside 48 hours and no-shows, there's no fee either, but those seats aren't refundable. Emergencies are still handled case by case, so reach out and we'll work with you.
Class pages no longer suggest classes whose dates have already passed.

Past Lives 1.0 is here — our official launch

This is the official 1.0 launch of the Past Lives app. Thank you for helping us build it. Here's what's new.
Every email got a clean refresh: a lighter, easier-to-read white-background look across the board.
Manage your own notifications, or unsubscribe, straight from any email footer. No sign-in needed.
Finish a guild orientation and you'll now get a thank-you email automatically; guilds can personalize it or turn it off.
Guild and site-wide announcements have a new 'mark as urgent' option that reaches even members who have turned that email off.
Approval and admin alerts are organized now: admins hand out specific duties (like Class Administrator), and only those folks get and can act on the matching requests. They all live in one 'Staff & leadership' group in your notification settings, and regular members don't see it.
When you create a meeting you can now set how long it runs, not just when it starts.
On the interactive space map, admins can click an available space to flip it to Reserved (click again to switch it back); hold Alt and click for the full editor.
Canceling a class registration now removes that class's Mailchimp tags, so you stop getting marketing emails for it.

Meetings: agenda building, upvotes, and publishing

Adding agenda topics is now instant: just type in the box at the bottom of the agenda and hit Add. No more clicking to create an empty item first.
Click any agenda topic to expand it and edit the details. Tap the pencil icon or the row itself — they both work.
Any member can +1 an agenda topic to signal they really want to discuss it. Counts show on the row so the council can see what's on people's minds.
Guild leads and council can now publish an agenda once it's ready. Look for the Publish agenda button at the top of the meeting page.
Delete a topic from the row (trash icon) or from inside the topic detail — both open a confirmation before removing.

Come build FOG with us — it's open source

The Help Center has a new section: Contributing & under the hood. FOG's code has always been public on GitHub, and now there's a guide that shows you how to report bugs, suggest features, or submit changes yourself — including a plain-language explanation of how a pull request works. No coding experience required to get involved.
The FOG API is now documented. Any member can browse live guild, event, and announcement data straight from their browser, and the guide covers how to get a token if you want to build a bot, dashboard, or integration of your own.

Every guild meeting now has a live agenda page that becomes the minutes

There's a new Meetings section in the sidebar. Every guild meeting — and the council meeting — gets one page that starts as the agenda before the meeting and becomes the official minutes after, with attendance, discussion notes, and action items all in one place.
Got something you want discussed? You can suggest agenda topics for an upcoming meeting right from its meeting page. Guild leadership reviews each one, and when yours is approved you're credited on the item.
Action items carry over from meeting to meeting until they're checked off, so nothing falls through the cracks between meetings.
If a meeting has a video call link, a Join meeting button shows up everywhere the meeting appears — one click and you're in.
Browse any guild's past minutes (and the council's) in the Meetings archive, with filters by guild and year.
Your guild's old meeting notes moved over automatically — they're all in the new Meetings section, attachments included.

A real Help Center

The Help page grew into a full Help Center. Every guide now has its own page, and the guides are organized by what you're trying to do — getting started, guilds, taking classes, and events & community.
There's a search box now. Type what you're stuck on, like 'book an orientation', and the matching guides come up with the relevant line highlighted.
The how-to guides walk you through step by step, with screenshots of the actual app so you can see exactly where to click.
It's not just for members: instructors get guides on creating and running their classes, and guild leads get guides on running their guild page, orientations, and announcements.
Guided tours now show you around in the app itself. New members get a 30-second spotlight tour of the hub, and there are tours for guild leads and instructors too. Take one anytime from the Help page, or turn tours off in Settings.
There's also a new Info View: flip it on from the top bar and hover anything highlighted to get a plain-language explanation right there, with a link to the full guide.
Become an instructor: a short orientation now walks you through what we expect, how class review works, and the quality bar. Complete it once and the teaching portal unlocks automatically — no waiting on an admin. Already taught a class? You're grandfathered in.

Guild vote reminders and results now go to every member

A few days before the monthly vote closes, everyone with an account gets a reminder email. If you've already voted, it shows your current picks. If you haven't, it tells you where to go. Starting end of August, there's also an @everyone post in #general-member-chat with the live standings.
When the vote closes and results are tallied, every member gets a results email that shows, guild by guild, how the funding pool was split — a visual bar chart with the dollar amount and share for each guild, just like the standings on the voting page. Voters also see a recap of their own ballot. The email goes out automatically — no admin needs to click 'send'.
The results @everyone post to #general-member-chat also starts at the end of August.

Behind-the-scenes fixes for Discord sync

The nightly sync to Discord's Events tab could miss a few events if Discord asked us to slow down partway through. It now waits a moment and tries again, so every event makes it over.
If you reacted in #choose-your-guild but the bot could not send you a DM, that used to block the 'link your Discord' reminder for everyone who reacted after you too. That is fixed: your reminder is now marked as sent and everyone else still gets theirs.

Admin: one switch moves Stripe billing between test and live mode

The Payments settings now hold two full sets of Stripe keys at once, a test set and a live set, so an admin can save both and never has to paste keys back and forth.
A single Testing Mode switch decides which set every charge, card setup, and webhook uses. Turn it off to go live and start charging real cards; turn it back on to return to safe test mode.
Flipping to live mode asks for confirmation first, since real cards get charged from that point on.

Admin tools: manual event sync, re-announce, and a terminal shortcut

Admins can now force-sync any Community Calendar event to Google Calendar and the Discord events list with one API call -- handy when an event falls out of sync after a brief outage.

When you create an account you can now tick a box to hear about new classes, workshops, and events. It is off unless you tick it, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link.

Moving around the Spaces map now works everywhere

Dragging the Spaces map (mouse or finger) now pans on every floor. Before, panning silently did nothing on some floors no matter how far you zoomed in.
The map sits in a shorter frame, so a tall floor starts cropped and you can drag or two-finger swipe around it right away, no zooming first.
On a phone or tablet, a two-finger swipe now moves the map while a pinch zooms it, the way a maps app behaves.

Explore the makerspace on an interactive map

There's a new Spaces page in the sidebar with a real map of the building. Pick a floor and every studio and shop is drawn to shape and colour-coded at a glance — green for open, grey for taken, amber for under maintenance — with its size and monthly price written right in the room. Drag to pan, pinch or scroll to zoom, and tap any space for the full details and who's in it.
A space that belongs to a guild now links straight to that guild's page: open a shop or studio on the map, and its guild's name in the details is a tap away from everything that guild is about.
Prefer not to use the map? The Listings tab has every space in a plain table you can read and use with a keyboard. It follows the floor you picked, puts the available spaces first, and you can search it or filter it down to just what's open.
Everything else that used to share that page now has its own Help page, further down the sidebar: parking and arrival, who to contact, the FAQ, the code of conduct, and the handbook links. Old links to the map still work.
The new Help page opens with plain-language guides to how the makerspace works: guilds, orientations, guild voting, taking and teaching classes, the community calendar, connecting Discord, and your notification settings. Each guide has its own link so you can jump straight to the one you need. There's also a new Wiki link in the sidebar that opens the makerspace's full knowledge base in a new tab.
See a space you want? Ask for it right there. Your request goes to the makerspace admins, and you'll get an email and a notification when they answer. Nothing is charged automatically; a human sorts the paperwork out with you.
Changed your mind? Your open requests show on the same page with a Withdraw button, and you can ask again later.

Important notices now reach you by email, not just the bell

A handful of things that really matter were only ever showing up as a notification in the app, so they were easy to miss. From now on they email you too: a class you booked being cancelled, a refund going out, a charge an admin adds to your tab, your tab getting close to its limit, and your studio lease coming up for renewal. Each one now spells out the details — which class, how much, which space, what date — instead of a one-line nudge.
Booked a class as a guest, without a Past Lives account? Cancellation and refund emails now reach you too. Before, they only went to people with accounts, so guests heard nothing at all.
Fixed: if you'd invited more than one person to Past Lives, only the very first acceptance ever notified you. Every invite you send now tells you when it's accepted.

With /vote you can cast or change your ballot without leaving Discord — pick your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice guilds from the dropdowns and it saves instantly, exactly like voting on the page. Your own picks stay private: only you see the /vote reply.

Guild pages get a leadership team and more to share

Guild leads can now build a staff team — co-guild-leads, secretaries, treasurers, and orienters — who get the same access and are copied on the same requests; your whole leadership team shows on the guild page.
Give a staff member a title of your own, too: type something like 'Studio Technician' or 'Glaze Technician' right beside the preset roles, and it shows on the guild page just like the rest. A person can hold a preset role and a custom title at the same time.
Post meeting notes and agendas (each with a write-up and downloadable files or links) on a new Meeting Notes tab, and make your FAQ answers richer with an embedded video or an attached document.
Editing a guild page is easier: each section saves on its own, photos get their own Gallery tab, and you can edit an announcement after posting instead of starting over.

The tools for running the monthly guild-funding vote now live in one tabbed place — an at-a-glance overview, the full Funding History, and Snapshots for locking in each month's tally — and admins can open the same voting page members see without leaving the admin area.

Guild orientations: book, run, and track shop orientations

Guilds can now run orientations right from their guild page. If you haven't been oriented for a guild yet, you'll see a small calendar of open times — pick one and request it in a click.
Booking an orientation sends you a confirmation email with a calendar invite you can add to Google or Outlook. It's clearly marked 'not an official booking yet' until the guild lead confirms your time.
Guild leads set everything up in one place: weekly orientation hours that fill the calendar automatically, one-off time slots, how many people fit per slot, an orientation info page, and a 'closed for orientations' switch with a note (like 'on vacation till Sept 8') for when you need a break.
When someone requests an orientation, the guild lead gets an email and can confirm, decline, or suggest another time — straight from the email with no login needed, or on the hub. Declining can include a friendly note.
Plans change: both members and guild leads can cancel or reschedule an orientation with one tap from their email, and everyone affected is notified automatically.
Leads and admins get an 'Orientations' page listing upcoming orientations across all guilds, plus a searchable, sortable history you can filter (by guild, yours, status, completed, or date range) and export to a spreadsheet.
Orientations mark themselves complete once their time passes, and the member gets a guild-lead-written 'thanks for orienting — here's what's next' email. Leads can also add a member to a slot themselves, or tick a past orientation back to 'not completed' if needed.
Guild pages now have quick contact buttons: email the guild lead, jump to the guild's Discord channel, or visit its website.
Joining a guild can now send a warm welcome email written by the guild lead, and quietly lets the lead know a new member has arrived.

Clearer class types: one-off classes vs multi-session series

Classes that run over several dates — like a 3-week Blacksmithing course — are now clearly marked as a 'multi-session series.' One sign-up enrolls you in every date in the set, and the class and registration pages spell out all the dates so you know exactly what you're booking.
When the same class is offered on more than one set of dates (say, a June run and a July run), the catalog now shows it as a single class with a 'Pick a session set' chooser, instead of looking like a pile of separate single days.
The registration page now has a 'Choose your dates' dropdown listing every available run of that class, so you can switch to a different set of dates without going back to the catalog.
Classes brought over from the old class site are now correctly recognized as a series when they span multiple dates, so multi-week courses no longer show up as a bunch of one-off sessions.
A class that has already begun no longer shows up as open for sign-up — you can't join a multi-week series part-way through — so the catalog only lists classes you can actually still book. A series page now lists every date in the set, with ones that already happened clearly marked.
Setting up or editing a class now starts with a clear, plain-language choice between a 'Single class (one date)' and a 'Multi-session series' — and you can add or remove dates anytime, even after publishing.
Instructors and admins can offer the same class on another set of dates with one click ('Offer on another set of dates'); the new run starts as a draft and automatically stays grouped under the same class on the public page.
We added an automated test that clicks through the site the way a real member does — requesting a sign-in code, entering it, and registering for a free class — so we catch a broken sign-in or booking flow before it ever reaches you. It runs on every change we make.
The 'email me a sign-in code' page now matches the site's light theme instead of falling back to a plain, unstyled page.
Pages now show a slim progress bar at the top while loading or saving, so opening a class or saving a form no longer feels frozen on slower connections.
The admin 'Sync Now' button for the legacy CMS now shows a spinner and a progress bar while it runs — and estimates how long it'll take based on the previous sync.
The extra questions on the registration form (like experience level or allergies) are now only the ones set up in the class admin — a few leftover sample questions that were showing by mistake have been cleared out.
We now remember your answers to those questions. The next time you register for a class while signed in, your previous answers are filled in for you — ready to tweak if anything's changed.
Booked before as a guest, without an account? Enter the same email and your earlier answers come back automatically, with a clear note so it's never a surprise.
The registration page now offers a clear choice up front: log in, create a free account to manage your bookings, or simply continue as a guest.
If you create an account, we ask these questions just once during sign-up, so you're not re-typing the same things every time you book a class.
Guild Leads can now reliably manage their guild's classes and pages. If you lead a guild, you can edit and adjust any class in your guild's categories — and the Edit/Adjust controls only ever appear for that guild's lead or an admin. Previously some guild leads were treated as regular members and couldn't save their changes.
Admins now have a single Registrations page listing everyone signed up across all classes, with search, quick filters by class and status, and a one-click export to a spreadsheet.
Instructors and guild leads get that same Registrations view for just their own classes, so they can see who's coming to what they teach without needing admin access.
From a registration, an admin can now cancel a spot, move someone to a different class, or mark a refund — marking a refund frees the seat and offers it to the next person on the waitlist, with a direct link to finish the actual refund in Stripe.
Instructors can now write a custom 'welcome to my class' email that's sent automatically to everyone who signs up — perfect for what to bring, where to park, or how to prepare. It's separate from the order confirmation, off until you turn it on, and there's a 'send a test to me' button so you can see exactly how it'll look first.
Instructors now see the makerspace-wide discount codes (like the members' discount) right on their Discount Codes page, clearly marked as admin-managed and read-only, alongside their own codes — so it's obvious which codes already exist before creating a new one.
Guild pages now show a 'Next Meeting' card that figures out the date for you: set a cadence like 'monthly, 3rd Thursday at 6pm in Studio B' and the page always shows the upcoming date — or a one-off override, or 'TBA' if nothing's scheduled yet.
Guild leads and admins can now post announcements to their guild page — pinned at the top, above the About section — and set them to automatically disappear after a date you choose.
Guild pages now show quick stats (members, classes offered, next meeting) and an 'Upcoming classes' list that links straight to sign-up, plus a 'Get Involved' panel for joining the guild or teaching a class.
Guild pages are now organized into tabs — Overview, Calendar, and Classes. The Calendar tab shows that guild's events and class sessions in the same week/month view as the main calendar, and the Classes tab lists all the guild's published classes with one-click sign-up.
Guild pages now have a 'Recent Activity' feed showing the latest happenings — new members joining, fresh announcements, and newly published classes.
Guild leads can now spotlight a 'featured class' that appears as a highlighted sign-up card at the top of their guild page.
The member directory now shows which guilds each member belongs to, and you can filter the directory by guild to see everyone in one. Joining a guild is instant, and you can join as many as you like.

Fixed a 500 error that prevented new account signups on the booking site.
The 'new sign-in from a new device' security email now uses the same polished template as other Past Lives emails.

The '+N more dates/sessions' text on class listings is now clickable and expands to show all dates inline.

Booking-site fixes, a clearer teaching area, and email auditing

On the public booking site (book.pastlives.space), the 'Manage Classes & Workshops' and 'Manage My Classes' buttons now take you straight to the right place in your member dashboard — before, they led to a dead page.
Hosting classes is open to every member: there's no separate 'instructor' role anymore. Any member can create and manage a class or workshop — it still needs approval from the category's Guild Lead and an admin before it goes live. The teaching pages now live at a clearer /classes/teach address, and old links redirect there automatically.
The top bar on the booking site is tidier for signed-in members — the link back to your FOG dashboard and your 'Member' badge are now properly styled and only appear where they're useful.
Admins have a new site-wide Activity dashboard in the sidebar. One tab shows a chronological feed of what's happening across the site — logins, profile updates, votes, tab charges, class registrations, and more. A second tab logs every automatic email the site sends (receipts, class confirmations, invites) so you can confirm exactly what went out and catch anything that failed.
Guild pages got a big visual refresh. Each guild now has a proper hero banner, an image gallery with click-to-zoom, an optional intro video, a meeting schedule, a frequently-asked-questions section, and a links sidebar — all managed by guild leads and admins from a redesigned full-page editor (the old pop-up is gone). Members can now join or leave a guild in one click, and guilds that opt in can show a roster of their members, respecting each member's directory-privacy settings.
Past Lives now keeps you in the loop with notifications. A bell in the top bar collects everything relevant to you — a new class or workshop going live, your registration or refund clearing, a waitlist spot opening up, your tab being charged, monthly voting reminders, and more. Under Settings → Notifications you choose which of these also reach you by browser push or email; the bell always shows the full list. For your account's safety, you'll always get an email when someone signs in from a new device.
The classes admin area has a brand-new Overview page that greets you when you open it. At a glance you can see which classes are waiting for your approval (with Review and Approve buttons right there), which classes have people on a waitlist, your most recent sign-ups, and a 14-day chart of how registrations are trending.
The management tabs are simpler. Instead of seven tabs across the top, there are now just three — Overview, Classes, and Settings. Categories, discount codes, registration questions, and waiver text all live together under Settings now, so the day-to-day tabs stay uncluttered.
There's a 'View live catalog' link in the management header so you can hop straight to the public booking site to see your classes the way visitors do.
Anyone teaching a class gets the same upgrade on their teaching dashboard — opening it now shows your drafts, anything awaiting review, your latest sign-ups, and your waitlists at a glance, with a one-tap 'Create your first class' if you're just getting started.
Opening a class now puts everything for that class in one place — a tabbed workspace for its registrations, waitlist, and discount codes, with Edit and Preview right at the top.
You get that same per-class workspace for your own classes — open any class you teach to see its sign-ups, waitlist, and discount codes in one place. Your teaching profile now lives in the top-right account menu.

The class list now only shows classes with upcoming sessions — past events no longer clutter the page.

The sticky category strip has been removed. A small arrow button appears in the bottom-right corner when you scroll down — click it to jump back to the top.

Classes from the old CMS now show up on book.pastlives.space

All classes from classes.pastlives.space now automatically sync into book.pastlives.space every 15 minutes — flip the toggle in Site Settings → Legacy CMS to turn it on. When you're ready to manage classes exclusively here, just turn it off.
Imported classes link to the right instructor automatically when the class title includes 'with [Instructor Name]'. Once linked, the connection is never overwritten by a re-sync so any manual adjustments stick.
Hero images from the old CMS are served through a proxy so class cards look complete right away — run 'Download legacy images' when you're ready to move them into plfog's own storage.
The Members admin table now shows how many classes each instructor is teaching, with a one-click link that filters the Classes table to just their classes.
The Classes admin table now has an instructor dropdown filter so you can quickly see every class taught by a specific person.
Site Settings has a new Legacy CMS tab with the sync toggle, a 'Sync Now' button for on-demand imports, and an instructor match table that shows how many of each instructor's classes were automatically linked by name.

Classes CMS round 2: rebrand, waitlist, dual approval, activity feed, and more

The public Classes site at book.pastlives.space now matches the look of pastlives.space. The old blue Squarespace backdrop is gone, the whole portal uses the Past Lives palette, and there is a slim PAST LIVES header at the top with Home, Guilds, Membership, Classes, and Contact links so it feels like one site to your customers.
Light theme is the default on book.pastlives.space. The dark/light toggle in the top bar still works on the member hub the same way it always has.
Class detail pages are now full width with bigger, easier-to-read text (16px floor everywhere). New sections appear automatically when the class has them: a video block, gallery, schedule, materials and prereqs side by side, an instructor card, a guild card, a short FAQ, related classes, and a sticky booking card on the right that follows you as you scroll.
Instructors can paste a YouTube link onto any class and it embeds right in the description. Works with watch links, youtu.be short links, embed URLs, and shorts.
Each of the 14 guild categories has a small icon next to its name on the public list. Admins can swap any icon for a custom one from the category admin.
All Classes page got a Filter button. Sort by category from a dropdown, then click Filter to pick instructors, set a price range, or show only classes with a member discount, free classes, or classes with upcoming sessions. The URL updates as you filter so you can share a link to exactly what you are looking at.
Discount codes can now be made for a single class. Open Edit on any class and look at the new "Discount codes for this class" section. Codes you make here only work for that class. There is also an Auto-apply toggle, which drops the price for every registrant without them needing to type the code. Global codes still live on the Discount Codes tab and still require an admin to make.
New approval flow for classes. When an instructor submits a class, it now goes to both an admin AND the Guild Lead of that class's guild (when one is set). Each reviewer gets an email with their own link so they can approve, request changes, or decline with notes. The instructor gets an email each step of the way: the class only goes live when every reviewer has approved. Requesting changes or declining bounces the class back to Draft so the instructor can edit and resubmit.
Waitlists for sold-out classes. When a class is full the Register button changes to "Join the waitlist" and the registrant gets confirmation of their spot in line, no charge. When somebody cancels, we email the next person on the waitlist with a 24-hour window to register. Admins see the waitlist on each class's admin page.
New Activity tab in the Classes admin area. Reverse chronological feed of everything that happens with classes: who created a class, who submitted it for review, who approved or requested changes, who registered, who got refunded, who joined the waitlist, when a discount code was used. Filter chips for Classes, Registrations, Waitlist, and Discount codes plus a search box for class title, name, or email.
Fixed invisible text on the Register button and category chip on class detail pages in light theme.
Community Calendar now uses the same clean background as the rest of the site — the old Squarespace backdrop image is gone.

Students on class detail, dollar pricing, admin create form fix

The class detail page now shows all registered students right on the page. You can see who signed up, their email, payment status, and registration date without leaving the class. Cancelled or refunded registrations appear dimmed for reference.
Admins can email students directly from the class detail page. Check the students you want to reach, click 'Email selected students', type your message, and send. Recipients are BCC'd so no one sees the others' emails, and every send is logged.
Price fields on class forms now accept dollars (e.g. 80.00) instead of cents (e.g. 8000). Same for the fixed discount field on discount codes. Existing prices display correctly; nothing changes behind the scenes.

Instructors now schedule class sessions on a visual month-view calendar — click a day, pick a time and duration, done. No more fiddling with raw datetime fields. Sessions show as gold dots on the calendar and are listed below with times.
Gallery images upload instantly without hitting Save. Drag and drop to reorder, inline alt text, one-click delete. Max 10 images, 10 MB each, auto-compressed.

Classes: smarter photos, newsletter tagging, custom questions, and instructor messaging

Class photos now auto-resize on upload — drop in a 4MB iPhone HEIC and we'll downscale and convert it to a clean web JPEG. The hero image gets a built-in crop tool: pick the 16:9 focal point and the public page crops to your selection.
Newsletter tagging picks up more context. When someone registers for a class, their newsletter contact now gets tagged with the category, the instructor, the guild (if the category is linked to one), and 'first-time-student' if it's their first class with us.
Categories can now be linked to a guild. Admins set the link from the category edit page, and it drives the new guild Mailchimp tag.
When a member finishes onboarding on book.pastlives.space, their account is now synced to Mailchimp with their persona, referral source, and category interests as tags — so newsletter campaigns can target by 'how they found us' or 'what they're interested in', not just who's already registered for a class.
Tour status from Simplybook is now pulled into member profiles. The account overview and instructor roster can show whether a member has completed a tour, refreshed at most once a day per member.
You can now set up global registration questions that get asked on every class registration. Admins manage the list from the Django admin — short text, paragraph, yes/no, or pick-one — and instructors see the answers next to each registrant on their registrations page.
Instructors can now email their students directly from the registrations page. Tick the rows you want to message, type a subject and body, and send. Recipients are BCC'd so no one sees the others' addresses, and every send is logged for the audit trail.

Classes: multi-image galleries with hover-zoom + a preview button

When you create or edit a class, you can now upload extra gallery photos in addition to the hero banner — finished pieces, the studio space, tool close-ups, anything that helps a visitor picture the workshop. Each photo gets an optional alt-text field and a sort number so you can put them in the order you want.
Picking a new image instantly shows a thumbnail in the form so you can tell which file you grabbed before saving.
On the public class page, the hero now leads a real gallery — thumbnails along the bottom, hover anywhere on the main image to magnify a close-up of that spot (great for showing detail on glasswork, ceramics, fiber pieces), and click to open a full-screen lightbox with arrow-key navigation.
A new 'Preview' button on the class form opens the public class page in a new tab — instructors and admins can see exactly how the page will look to visitors before submitting for review or publishing, including drafts.
The hero image field now has a small '?' tooltip showing the recommended dimensions (1600 × 900, 16:9) and max file size so you know what to aim for before uploading.

The public site at book.pastlives.space now has a 'Sign up' button right in the navbar next to 'Log in' — new visitors don't have to know to click through Log in to find the signup link anymore.
Signing up on book.pastlives.space is always open, regardless of the invite-only setting in Site Settings. The invite-only gate was meant for makerspace membership signups on members.pastlives.space — it shouldn't be blocking someone from making a book account just to track their class registrations.

Site Settings: add multiple calendars to the Community Calendar

Site Settings now has its own Calendar tab with a list of named calendar feeds — General, Workshops, Open Studio, anything you want. Click '+ Add calendar' to drop in another iCal URL, give it a name and a color, and it shows up on the Community Calendar legend with its own colored chips.
The Site Settings page is now organized into two tabs (General and Calendar) so finding registration, MailChimp, and analytics settings stays out of the way when you're just managing calendars.
Existing General Calendar setups were automatically migrated into the new list as a 'General Calendar' feed — nothing to do, no events go missing.

Delete classes outright, and a $1 minimum on paid classes

Admins can now delete any class that has no registrations — not just drafts. The Delete button shows up on the class detail page next to Archive whenever no one has signed up yet. Classes with registrations still have to be archived so we keep the history.
When you set a price on a class, the minimum is now $1.00. Anything cheaper should just be a free class — tick 'This is a free class / workshop' and the price goes to zero. (This only affects new prices you set going forward; classes that were already priced below a dollar still work.)

We launched a brand new public site at book.pastlives.space — anyone can browse our classes and workshops, sign up, and pay, no Past Lives account required. Send the link to friends, family, or anyone curious about taking a class with us.
Members: nothing changes for you. Classes still live in the sidebar at /classes/ inside your hub, the member discount still applies automatically, and your dashboard looks exactly the same as it did yesterday.
One login, two doors — if you're signed in on members.pastlives.space and you wander over to book.pastlives.space, we still recognize you and your member discount still applies. Handy for grabbing a link to share or showing a class to a non-member friend looking over your shoulder.
Anyone who registers for a class can now create a free account and log in at book.pastlives.space to see their upcoming classes, past classes, receipts, and edit their contact info. No membership required — it's just a lightweight place for class takers to keep track of what they've booked.
A short 3-step welcome runs the first time someone signs in at book.pastlives.space — it asks if they've ever taken a class with us before, collects a preferred name and a day-of contact phone, and lets them check off which kinds of classes they'd like to hear about. Every step is skippable, and we only email them about new classes in the categories they picked.
Booked as a guest and forgot to make an account? There's a new 'Find my booking' page at book.pastlives.space/account/lookup/ — type in your last name and the confirmation order number from your email (the friendly PL-XXXX-YY one we now print at the top of every confirmation) and we'll pull up your booking. No password needed.
Instructors can hop over to book.pastlives.space anytime to see classes they've personally signed up for as a student. A small link inside their account points back to their teaching dashboard on members.pastlives.space — that's still where class management happens.
Registrations from both surfaces land in the same place — admins manage everything from one Classes admin in the members hub, so there's nothing new to learn and nothing to keep in sync.

Stop login-page email spam from draining our daily quota

The login page now has a few new defenses against the bot that's been hammering it the last couple of days. The form looked too easy to spam, which is why our daily email quota was getting maxed out: every random email someone typed in (real or not) triggered an outgoing email, and Resend has a daily cap.
Random emails no longer trigger an outgoing 'no account found' message. After you submit the login form, the page now says 'If you are a member at Past Lives, we sent a sign-in code to ...' — that wording is intentional. It doesn't confirm or deny whether the email is on file, which protects member privacy and also stops bots from using the form to enumerate real addresses. Nothing actually gets emailed unless the address matches a member.
Tighter rate limiting on the login page: at most 5 requests per minute from any one device, and at most 3 codes per hour to the same email address. Repeated submissions beyond that quietly drop instead of sending.
Added an invisible 'honeypot' field that real browsers ignore but most bots dutifully fill in. If it comes back filled, the request is treated the same as if the user had been rate-limited.
Hard daily and hourly caps on total login emails (configurable, defaulting to 100/hour and 500/day) as a last-resort safety net. If anything ever slips past the other defenses, the site will stop sending login emails before the bill runs over instead of after.

Mailchimp signup + site-wide Google Analytics

Class registration now has an opt-in checkbox — tick it and you'll start getting our newsletter about future classes, events, and what's happening at Past Lives. Leave it unchecked and nothing changes.
Brand new Newsletter page at /newsletter/ — anyone (members or not) can drop their email in to get our updates, no account required.
Site Settings now has working MailChimp credentials — paste in the API key and audience ID and the signup paths above start sending people to the right list, tagged so we can tell who came from a class versus the standalone newsletter form.
Google Analytics now tracks every page on the site instead of just the public Classes pages — set the GA4 ID once in Site Settings and every member page, every public page, every auth page reports back. The Django admin is excluded so we don't pollute analytics with internal traffic.

Calendar QOL + a redesigned Profile page that lets you control what's public

The Calendar's month view used to show the calendar month you're in, which meant by the end of April you were staring at a near-empty grid. It now shows a rolling 4-week window starting from the current week, so you always see this week plus the next three. The Prev/Next arrows step the window forward or back by 4 weeks at a time.
Event titles are now visible right on the calendar grid in both Week and Month views — no more guessing which colored dot is which event. Click any title and the page jumps to that event in the list below and gives it a quick highlight. If the event lives on a different page, the list auto-flips to that page first.
Today's column on the calendar grid now has a thin red line across the top, and any event that's happening right now gets a red outline plus a pulsing 'Live now' pill on its card.
Profile settings got a new design with per-field privacy controls. Next to each field — phone, email, Discord, pronouns, photo, about-me, etc. — there's a small Public/Hidden eye-icon toggle so you can decide exactly what other members see when they look you up. A live preview on the side shows your directory card update in real time as you flip toggles or type. A panel at the bottom lists everything that's never shown to other members (legal name, billing, emergency contact, internal notes) so there's no ambiguity.
On mobile, the Feedback button used to live at the bottom of the sidebar where it could get cut off and was hard to find. There's now a yellow Feedback bubble pinned to the bottom-right corner of every page on mobile so it's one tap away. The mobile sidebar also handles short screens better and respects the device's safe area.

Free classes & workshops — and a fix for the Register page styling

When you create or edit a class, there's now a "This is a free class / workshop" checkbox right above the price field. Tick it and the class is free — members and visitors register without entering any payment info, and they get a confirmation email immediately.
Free classes show as "Free" everywhere on the site (the class card, the detail page, and the registration summary) instead of a $0 price tag.
Fixed a bug where the Register page on a class could load with no styling if you clicked through from another page in the same browser tab. The page now keeps its full styling no matter how you arrive at it.

Members can sign up for classes online — plus a unified Classes page

You can now register for classes and workshops directly on the website. Click Register on any class page, fill out a short form, sign the liability waiver online, and pay with a card through Stripe — no more email back-and-forth.
Members get the member discount applied automatically when the email on the form matches a verified member email.
Free classes skip the payment step and confirm immediately — you'll get a confirmation email right away.
Discount codes are honored on the registration form, and stack on top of the member discount.
Every confirmed registrant gets a confirmation email with the schedule, location, and a personal link they can use to view or cancel their spot — no login needed.
There's now a single Classes & Workshops page in the sidebar — the same page everyone sees, members and visitors alike. Admins and instructors get a Manage button right on that page that opens the classes admin (or the Teaching dashboard for instructors), so you don't lose anything, it's just one entry point instead of two.
Fixed: a class you publish now shows up on the Classes & Workshops page right away, even before its sessions are scheduled — it appears with an "Upcoming dates TBA" note until you add dates.

Photos for member profiles, guild banners, and classes

You can now upload a profile photo on your User Settings → Profile page — your photo replaces your initials in the member directory and in the top-right of the navbar
Guild leads can add a banner image to their guild's page — it appears at the top of the guild detail page above the name and About section, with a tooltip explaining the recommended dimensions
Class images (categories, instructors, and individual classes) and other photos uploaded through the admin now stay around between deploys instead of disappearing
Image uploads have a 5 MB limit so things stay snappy and don't blow up our storage bill
Replacing or removing a photo now also deletes the old file from storage so we don't accumulate orphaned images over time

Classes: admin tabs foundation

New Classes admin area (admins only) with six tabs — Classes, Categories, Instructors, Registrations, Discount Codes, and Settings — so we can build out the makerspace's class catalog natively inside Past Lives without needing the old booking site
Admins can create categories, invite instructors (who get their own login), build classes with a full set of fields (prerequisites, materials, capacity, member discount, scheduling), and manage discount codes — the public registration flow + Stripe payments come in a follow-up release
Instructors now exist as a first-class role: someone can be a member, an instructor, or both. The "Viewing as" dropdown recognizes the new role so admins can preview what teachers see

The Guild Voting page is now split into three tabs: Current Standings (live points), New Votes This Month (only votes cast or changed since the last snapshot), and Last Month's Results (the most recent snapshot with funding breakdown)
Your vote still rolls over automatically every cycle — once you've submitted it, it stays in place and keeps counting until you change it
The admin Voting Preferences page now shows a per-member voting history pulled from past snapshots, so you can audit how anyone's picks contributed to the totals cycle by cycle

Flexible Product Revenue Splits

Products can now split revenue across multiple guilds and admin in any combination — for example, a $10 product can be set up so 20% goes to admin, 60% to the Ceramics Guild, and 20% to the Art Framing Guild
The percentages have to add up to 100%, but otherwise you can mix recipients however you like
The Add Product form has been redesigned: it now appears inline on the guild edit page (no more popup) with a live preview that shows exactly how a sale will be divided up
The 'active/inactive' toggle is gone — if a product exists, it's available; if you delete it, it's gone
Existing products and past tab entries were cleared during this upgrade — you'll need to re-add your products with their new split configuration
