Go Batty! Experience basic welding while creating a sculpture of a bat. Completion of a beginning workshop, such as Zoo 101, is strongly recommended.

 

In this two-session class, students will learn how to safely operate a MIG welder, make tack welds, bend sheet metal, and use an angle grinder to cut, smooth and clean metal. Bat sculpture kits are included in the class fee. 

 

Students who don’t finish are welcome to return on a Sunday by appointment for a nominal fee.

Please wear only cotton, wool or leather. Synthetics melt to your skin when the sparks fly.

 

About the Instructor:

Metal sculptor Jacqueline Sowell is a tech-world defector, trading her career in the software industry for a life of making things with her hands and enjoying students and fellow artisans.

 

Jacqueline splits her time between creating animal sculptures, including commissioned pet portraits, and helping other metalworkers achieve their goals through CNC services and welding workshops.
