Let's not beat around the bush, if you have been trying out some ceramics, then you want to learn how to make some funky little jars, pots and lidded bowls to hold all your trinkets. Well, I got you! This beginner/intermediate wheel-throwing class will go over various lidded piece forms and techniques, as well as some throwing techniques such as throwing off the hump.
Each student should go home with 4-6 lidded pieces!
This series is made up of 6 two-hour classes on Wednesdays, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
*Note* - there must be at least 2 signups for this class to run, if only one person signs up, I will reach out to them personally and we will find another time that works to reschedule this course.
Schedule:
Day 1: Simple closed-form lidded jars
Day 2: Mini ramen bowls or donabe style pots + trimming
Day 3: Classic lidded pieces + trimming
Day 4: Classic lidded pieces pt. 2 + trimming
Day 5: trimming
Day 6: glazing
While this is the planned schedule, it may shift depending on the needs and pace of the students.
This class is intended to be for students who have thrown on the wheel before, and who are able to throw basic cylinders. However, if you are worried that this class may be too advanced, or aren't sure if it's the right fit, please reach out to me via instagram or email and we can figure it out together!
About the Instructor:
Anjali studied ceramics for a year during her time at Soka University of America in Orange County. She quickly fell in love with the art form, and later began teaching classes in San Diego before finding her way to Past Lives Makerspace. Her favorite things to make are teapots that she uses every morning.
